The Soft Quiet Space Between Now and the Light - These Things
There’s no way to know the effects of living in a place until you live in a place. Some say there's no way to know one's thoughts until one writes them down. Seven years living and writing in Alaska brought me close to the Earth and how grateful I am for its sustenance and seasons, its physicality and indifference to time. Winter Solstice is a turning even unpoetically of the electro-magnetic winds around us. This is my favorite time of year. I'm feeling a turn and return of the light and warmth coming. But first winter–the soft quiet space between now and the light. Happy holidays.
