To experience now in real time like in the movies which are likely not real
Out Gowan Road. February 2025.
Howdy lovely people(!) I’m listening to Sigur Ros’ “Ágætis byrjun” this morning and have you seen “A Complete Unknown” yet? I recommend “The Unknown Country” for a poetic wander through the American west but I’m excited to and hopefully see “A Complete Unknown” this weekend after watching “The Brutalist” last weekend—what a fantastic experience of cinema! I’m being specific here that the experience of “The Brutalist” is great cinema but the story is difficult as understanding some of the more lyric movements in the film which are not necessary to the story but which are essential for the intended experience (I watched a YouTube about it) and experience as in “have you ever been” is a lot like living so more cinema experiences please this year and more great storytelling in general, and bicycle rides and making photographs and friends and being in experience outside without a jacket and the awareness too this year that now is a real-time experience just like we see in the movies only very different.
These things inspired me recently
A girl finds out she’s an aunt — quick watch. Will make you smile. As long as you don’t lose real time falling into a hole after watching this one…what will your character decide?
2025 Grammy Winners — It’s like a reading list but for your ears. Did you know there’s a spoken word poetry album and that a group known as Tank and the Bangas won? Super fun videos shot in New Orleans.
Science backed mood boosters to almost instantly snap you out of a funk — The title is great but the comic-style illustrations are what got me.
“Oh power within Eternity” — The International Society of Hildegard von Bingen Studies — In case you need a translation of texts from an album of her music or want the sheet music to perform and record your own album of Hildegard’s music. I’m a huge fan of Sequentia’s recording of “Canticles of Ecstasy.” Did you know the experience is spelled with an “s” and the drug with a “c”? I just realized that.
