“A fool sees not the same tree that a wise man sees.”
— William Blake
Tintype
Whole forests went to sea
disguised as ships.
Whole seas went to forest
disguised as time.
—Joshua Poteat (2015)
These things too inspired me recently:
America’s Next Food Craze Is Buried in Appalachia. Yes, they’ve found truffles native to North America. And some dude is planting trees with truffle mycelium in hopes of cultivating these lovely little underground mushrooms.
The Seer and the Unseen. This documentary about a woman in Iceland who talks with elves about whether construction projects will be devastating to the environment looks fascinating!
On Meditation and the Unconscious: A Buddhist Monk and a Neuroscientist in Conversation. The thing about science is that it largely only looks at what is whereas art is able to look at what can be. It’s interesting to see “evidence” now that meditation works. Ok, it’s cool to learn more specifically about how it works within our bodies. It’s a cool article anyway.
