Short Film Festival at The Common Well Boise
We (Sunset Grove Film Festival) got to present some of our favorite films at The Common Well Boise in November 2024 and wanted to share these with you.
Set I
Funnel - 7:05 - 2014. Written and directed by Andre Hyland. When a man's car breaks down, he finds himself on a quest for a funnel.
Historia del Desierto - 6:06 - Written, directed and animated by Celia Galán as her graduation film from the Royal College of Art in London in 2002. Based on a short story by Ceferino Galán.
Ocean Gravity - 3:38 - By Guillaume Nery and Julie Gautier and shot in Tiputa Pass, an underwater straight in French Polynesia. Guillaume says, “I have this idea to use the strong current during the rising tide to create the visual effect of a body in orbit around a star.”
Make and Share - 3:15 - By Shantell Martin by Casey Neistat.
The Foley Artist - 3:35 - 2015. Concept and directed by Oliver Holms. A glimpse of a foley artist at work on a short film within a short film.
Marry Up - 0:58 - A very short Italian film on marriage by Matteo Polo, Marco Serpenti, Matteo Zanin.
The Subconscious Art of Graffiti Removal - 16:02 - By Matt McCormick and narrated by performance artist and filmmaker Miranda July makes the tongue-in-cheek argument that municipal efforts by Portland, Oregon to mask and erase graffiti is an important new movement in modern art.

A.D. 1363 - The End of Chivalry - 2:35 - 2015. Written and directed by Jake Mahaffy. A knight in armor rushes off on a (very) short quest.
Johanna - 3:47 - Shot in the wilderness of Finland by British director Ian Derry. Finnish freediver Johanna Nordblad holds the world record for a 50-meter dive under ice. She discovered her love for the sport through cold-water treatment while recovering from a downhill biking accident that almost took her leg.
Santa is a Psychedelic Mushroom - 6:36 - It’s time to embrace the shamanistic side of Christmas. By Matthew Salton for the New York Times.
Bottle - 5:25 - Stop-motion animation by Kirsten Lepore.
Nattrikken (Night Ride) - 15:00 - June 2022. Written and directed by Eirik Tveiten. Norway. Nominated for a live-action Oscar. On a cold night in December, Ebba waits for the tram to go home after a party, but the ride takes an unexpected turn.
Fall Campfire - 0:33 - Directed and animated by Ynon Lan. “A short stop motion animation using the beautiful fall leaves I found on my street.”
