These Things: Lynching Reality
“Intuition is emotion and intellect going together.” - David Lynch
Hello Lovely People of the Planet and Happy Thursday!
I love pragmatism as much as the next thinky-too-much-person, “so much depends upon” and all, but Edson’s surrealist version of “The Wheelbarrow (read/recorded by Jeff O.)” drifts me differently and so I’ve tripped into a Lynchian (David Lynch) kind of thing for this edition and so here are these things:
“Curtains Up” - a mini documentary on David Lynch by Stella McCartney and Austin Lynch that is kind of a remix of Lynch’s book “Catching the Big Fish.”
Listen to These Things: Here’s the playlist of unusual proportions I’m listening to these days including:
“Thought Gang” - by David Lynch and Angelo Badalamenti
“VooDoo in My Blood” - by Massive Attack and Young Fathers and featuring Rosamund Pike in the video. And an autonomous orb.
“The Vile Stuff” - Richard Dawson - I love this guy!
“High Low Middle” - by My Brightest Diamond (Shara Nova) from her album/opera “All Things Will Unwind.”
“i’m a person” - Bill Wurtz
“Krigsgaldr” - Heilung
“Weird Nightmare” - music of Charles Mingus (it’s kind of a documentary).
You have to watch this Oscar-award-winning short film “The Stutterer.” My dad loves this one.
Mushrooms are eating homes in Detroit. But intentionally. I mean, it’s a good thing.
Oliver Bicycle Works is now a thing!
The Morning Ride Podcast
I got some things sorted and so you should expect version/season 2 to begin next week! New frequency should be Monday and Thursday. I think that’s more than enough of listening to a monkey on a bicycle.
In Closing
Thanks for reading this edition of These Things. If you know someone who loves film, poetry, and becoming a better human type person, please forward this email to them.
Otherwise we’re in L.A. for a few daze…
