So we’re in the third trimester of spring and summer’s on its way with its ineluctable intolerance of stasis and I’ve been running across some things that I’ve found helpful as I’m outside more and walking through the soles of my shoes and wishing I was a little more intentional about my casual photos so here goes...
Oh right, I didn’t mention Philip Roth in the last edition because he didn’t seem to fit but really I couldn’t believe he’s gone. I’ve read so much bullshit about him since he died on May 22 and this article in “The Paris Review” by Megan Abbott is my favorite memoriam to a dude I think is one of the great American writers (of any time/generation/other qualifications…). “American Pastorale” may be “the” great American novel.
